First of all, welcome to my new readers from Bangladesh!
Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come for us to take a stand and get involved. We deserve a justice system that is truly fair and balanced and protects the rights of ordinary hardworking citizens to live their lives without the disruption of frivolous lawsuits.
Anyone can be dragged into the legal system at any time. I remember the day I first got sued my mom said, “Not to scare you, but innocent people go to jail all the time for crimes they didn’t commit.” Ha, Thanks Mom! Seeing how I was CC’d on a letter that suggested 10 years of jail time was on the menu for a band name that wasn’t even officially Trademarked yet, I took her statement very seriously.
As I obsessively started to research the Justice system and the psychological and financial consequences of frivolous lawsuits, I got scared. Then I got angry. Stories of innocent people dragged into the legal system for years on end. I just couldn’t understand why this was being tolerated.
This has to stop. This can happen to you, and I don’t want it to. Here is how you can help to make sure it doesn’t. We want to discourage frivolous litigation by making penalties steeper for those who abuse the system, as time is VALUABLE. I am working with the Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York (LRANY) on a proposition on a new bill dubbed “Collette’s Law”, aka The Frivolous Litigation Reduction Act. We have a campaign set up with Voter Voice, where you can write you local senator or assembly person to support the bill and end the culture of litigation abuse in New York!
Let’s make America great again! Or something like that!
