So I have been told that the decision is on the judge’s desk, but he has not looked at it or signed it yet. I truly believe that this lawsuit was filed with the intention of a judge never actually seeing it. While I initially had NO IDEA that lawsuits took years to fight (even if they are 100% without merit), the plaintiff, who is a lawyer obviously did. I still can’t believe any of this was actually allowed to take place, but as many have said my case demonstrates why the legal system needs reform. If anything, I hope my case will inspire others to speak out against their abusers.
Whatever direction this case goes in…actually getting this case before a judge was a very important thing to do. Even though the actions of a total stranger caused me to lose over $100,000 (this lawsuit interrupted a very important business deal I was on the verge of making), my reputation, two years of my life, and my apartment… I gained something so much more valuable: extreme and total self respect.
At one point I was told that the plaintiff would drop it (without offering damages or proper compensation for legal fees), as long as I never spoke about him “in a negative light”. Well, considering that this is the most negative thing anyone has ever done to me, it was impossible to agree to those circumstances. A common component of abuse is when an abuser tells his target not to tell anyone. The only way I could ever agree to those terms is if the plaintiff actually took proper steps to right his wrongs and not provide half- apologies. The fact that I was even put in a position in the first place of having to raise legal fees is completely unacceptable. I’m a reasonable and forgiving person, just a person who knows my worth.
In other news, I have been hearing about the court show that FOX had initially contacted me to be on. I’m not sure if it is the same court show or not. But there is one on the air where Sarah Palin is a guest judge! I am not going to lie, I am NOT a fan of Sarah Palin the politician, but I am somewhat a “reluctant fan” of Sarah Palin the tabloid TV personality. Not like a “I run the Sarah Palin fan club” type of fan…more like a “I won’t change the channel if she is on TV” kind of fan. It would have been a trip and a half to go on that show. I do believe that Sarah would have had a rare moment of being on the right side of history had she heard the appalling details of my case.
I have no idea what it means to bring in the dancing lobsters… but I like it. So I leave you with this image as I await my fate.
